SCAPE was excited to return to Fareham College’s Bishopsfield’s Road Campus to design and build their ‘Energy Hub’, custom built for training the new T-Levels programmes and existing construction courses. The project aims to train, upskill, and develop current and future building services engineers. Integrated technology will include electric and hybrid vehicle charging points, ground and air source heat pumps, photovoltaic panels, tech for smart homes and modern work areas and information technology. More sustainable technologies will help reduce carbon footprint.
Working in collaboration with Fareham College; Peter Marsh Consultancy (PMc) this essential space needed to meet the future needs of the industry. To achieve this we transformed an old, unused existing sports hall into a fully bespoke Energy Hub within a 13-week timeframe.
The concept design is based on creating an inspiring, collaborative, and practical workshop space that is bold and unexpected. Creative direction adopted an industrial look and feel with concrete finishes, metal grid systems, hardware flooring, black walls, signal yellow framework and distinctive LED light features.
A mock house was built central to the space, prepping the structure for the installation of Solar panels on the roof, plus a steel car canopy for the new electric vehicle charging stations. Classroom space was incorporated for the Technicians to cover off the theory work within the curriculum.
Our inhouse graphics team, created large eye-catching sustainability inspired images to optimise the large empty wall spaces, reinforcing the renewable energy ethos showing wind turbines, solar panels, and the earth’s core with geometric shapes that reflected the rest of the space. With technology also being an important part of the space, Fareham College provided graphical light boxes and a display made from 16 screens.
We bring a breadth of experience and expertise. It’s important to us that you can count on us at any stage of the process and beyond.
